What is the essential process one attributes to this image of Emil and a horse being shoed on the market?
The future as well as new ideas start in the imaginative world – right? From there we can see dreams developing and coming true. If we hark back to previous great ideas, ahead of their time decades ago and from there create something new, thats where we discover the process of innovation.
Innovation is not something one would consider new to the world of Swedish car design. However, after decades of engineering feats that
manufacturers worldwide regard as the prestige by which one can measure what it means to have balance between style, safety, comfort, high performance and practical ergonomics, presently the heritage is viewed by purists and the like, as having seen better days. There is a sense that one of Sweden’s car manufacturers have lost their identity, swallowed up by an industry reliant on sales- volume and led by quarterly profit margins.
Perhaps it is fitting then that supporters of the Swedish icon would look outside the mainstream profit-led organisations that bare the brands and logos, to fellow believers who are attached to the same idea that Swedish design, the honest and original approach that created an unprecedented precision in car manufacture in previous decades, vehicles that were truly designed for the people, is by far from over. This is where Perfecter AB and the Sason-inspired 92004 project find a welcoming arena.
Blending post-war aesthetics with modern underpinnings, the 92004
offers a glimpse of what many consider the next era in motoring. Responding to real human and environmental needs, Perfecter AB have orchestrated a concept that introduces the modern driver to classic sty- ling whilst providing the stability and economy usually associated with contemporary design. Using hybrid technology in their re-engineered M95 fuelled motors, a new specialised suspension for improved road grip and tire wear all enclosed in a body modelled on the famous Sason UrSaab of 1947, the 92004, whilst impressive, may sound a radical departure from the direction one may label as progress. However it’s in this form that creativity and innovation have always been synonymous with Swedish design. From an ethical perspective the 92004 project certainly talks the talk and walks the walk by addressing human and environmen- tal concerns many car manufacturers fail to get right.
Despite appearances we are not talking fancy gimmicks or flash-in-the-pan projects here but honest aspirational concepts put into practice. Perfecter AB exhibit a genuine passion and confidence to see their vision become a reality, a confidence that puts the future of the project into the hands of its supporters and stay-hard fans of the Swedish automotive legacy. By dispensing with interest- greedy banks and relying on future owners of the 92004 to fund the project it seems Perfecter AB stand by their attachment to a sustaina- ble, non-profit future where cars are built by the people for the people.
